this is for anyone who might be working tonight and checking out the forum: do we have any water bottle cages that have mounting rings? i.e. you don't need braze-ons or holes in your frame to use. If so, I'll be stopping by tomorrow to buy one.

I have no braze-ons on my bike, so I've looked.  There are some online that are made to attach cages. I've found some plastic clips for reflectors, etc. that can be used to anchor a metal bottle cage.  Sorta works.

I'm thinking of trying plastic locking pipe clamps - please let me know it you find a good solution.

IMO, you can't do better than a Twofish Quick Cage.

I have a Twofish Lockblock for my flashlight.  It's made of dense rubber, and works great.

that twofish thing is a good, simple design. i think i'm gonna have to wait till i find one on ebay though, cuz 16 bucks plus shipping seems a bit much for a bent piece of steel and some velcro.

I even own one of the 'Cyclopblock' s for my headlight.

As I see it, the problem with the water-bottle cage mount is with a full-bottle and even slightly rough-riding, they tend to slip-around a little.  They move, in my opinion, from insufficient tension with the velcro-strap mount.  If there were another type of 'clip' to hold it on more securely, i'd say "OH-yeah!"  But...

I'm with Dan...  1/4" wide hose-clamps and standard Cages... !!

Yeah, Gern!  We could make our own kit for mounting water-bottle cages!
Special little, light-n-thin, stainless clips, perhaps with rubber sleeve-protector so they won't mar the paint, who knows...

...new product for BRW !!??
