Hello.  I am riding from Koreatown to Santa Monica.  Does anyone have any helpful tips on route or anything else?  This is a commute for me.  Thanks.  Jonathan

Hey Jon,
What part of K town are you coming from/what part of Santa Monica are you going to? I live in H wood, and the roads I prefer to take west are Olympic, Venice, Melrose, Beverly, or Wilshire, then turning onto Santa Monica Blvd. Beverly gets ugly for a few blocks through the country club, and Olympic can get hairy through Century City, then further into Santa Monica. I'd say Wilshire to Santa Monica is the best route.

Charleville - one street south of Wilshire- parallels Wilshire and is all 4 way stops and lights at major roads.

charleville is great... if you like eating crap sandwiches.... and a pleasant commute. i take it in bad traffic, though you have to beware of  the ultra-impatient residential street maniac drivers who like to blow through stop signs. i can't spit fast enough to hit them.

I start south of the 10 freeway.  I usually take Main south to Abbot Kinny (for the floor show, lots of lights) down to Venice, which has bike lanes, and few lights 11 miles to Crenshaw, North a few hilly blocks to 6th Street, and a few blocks further East to the Western /Wilshire Metro station in Koreatown. Wilshire has no bike lanes there and much traffic, so I go around. Venice boulevard is my main route toward Downtown LA from the south part of SM.
