From Paul of Atomic Cycles in the Valley . . . one of the OGs of the bike community:

I'm going to be moving it seems and I have a huge pile of bicycles. I'm planning on taking some with me as I need them for my shop but the majority are up for grabs.

I figure I'll sell them off for 20-40 bucks for a truck load, what ever you can cram in your truck/van.

I know bikes very well and I'm going to be cherry picking the 25% or so that I'm taking for my business. The rest is mostly low end stuff, great for parts or building customs, tall bikes etc.

Don't contact me asking if I have this kind of bike or that one, I don't have time for individual requests.

Most of the road bikes are gone, no vintage bmx, no sting-rays, schwinns etc, I'm taking those with me.

You'll have to make an appointment in the MORNING to come look at this stuff, night time is no good. Don't flake out on me or come to tire kick or pull out one or two frames, I'd rather just push it all to the curb than be bothered then. I work 11-6 every day but Monday, you'll need to be here and be done with your load by 10:30 am. This means you should be here by 8 am at the latest.

Here's my e-mail rev106@yahoo.com
Here's my phone (leave a message, it's not a cell phone) 818 881-6669

thanks

from the description of his "Bikes," i'd imagine we could make a similar offer with some of the crap we have hanging around.  the last thing we need is a bunch mountain bike frames cramping our already limited space.

pass.

Perhaps this subject overlaps into what we (the Inventory Committee) need to complete, which is to define our 'Policies' regarding 'storage' and what that comprises at BRW.

On one hand, NO - we've got no room for twenty more bikes right now (..or somesuch)  Our committee is in the process of documenting everything in BRW right now, and we're appx 35% done with 'bikes-n-frames'.  As we organize, we intend to 'clear-out' (by sale or other methods) everything that's not rightfully and properly 'claimed' and 'tagged'. (don't worry people- if you have projects they're safe for the moment!)

Most of the people who are working on "tall-bikes" and "frame-welding" pretty much understand that they are welcome to work on their projects on specified 'Workshop' days (as far as large numbers of bikes & frames, and lots of cutting & welding going on) which are usually 'off-days' from normal BRW open-hours.  The rest of the 'wrenching' n'stuff that they've done has been pretty respectful of shop procedure.

Also most of these guys (Ritchie?) have managed to take their projects home, and not leave Bulky Projects in the shop.  There was one complaint about a large amount of 'recyclables' left-over after some of these events, but... that's another thread for later.

To some degree, and in a very finite sense, there is a small amount of storage space available for cut lengths of tubing, stays, lugs, dropouts, etc. (from frames)...  BUT! >>>

Just to put this out there...

The main idea is to take pride & responsibility with your own projects, which might also mean you storing your own 'stuff' at home (depending on it's BULK!)  It's obvious we have limited space, and for the shop to function, we have a limit to the number of 'frames' and 'bikes' we can store...  also...

If any of you guys are going out to 'score' on a large number of decent bikes, (which could be ridden as-is or with some minor effort) you might want to consider fixing-up one or two and donating 'em to the good ol' BRW, = It would be a small sacrifice for you as a group, and you'd be directly helping us to continue helping you make your dreams come true... !!??

Be practical about this people, that's all really.
