"Rome has contracted the Spanish company Cemusa to install 22 public self-service bike rental stations in the historic center of the city to ease traffic congestion, pollution--and because it's often the easiest way to get around."

Very few people ride bikes in this god forsaken city, I see old bikes sitting out all the time, but never anyone riding them. It's odd because it can be much faster to move through the center here on a bike but at the same time the road conditions are deplorable and the drivers make LA seem like Portland. It truly is controlled chaos on the streets of Rome.

I have not been yet, I'm happy you get to be there Franz. But i have rented bikes in Manhattan and Wash. D.C., truley the easiest way to get around. Certainly true in D.C., I couldn't imagine tring to park around town.

Franz? Doesn't Rome has more god gravitas than most places? I mean you can practically hit the Pope with a cassette wrench (so to speak) from there. How then can it be forsaken? Or like, what would make you feel better man?
