Please join us on Saturday, October 6th at 9:00AM at John Adams Middle School cafeteria to discuss issues related to parking, congestion, performance measures, street design, and transportation demand management. Your input will help the City to improve the everyday conditions of our streets, and help bicyclists and pedestrians get around more safely and efficiently.

*      Are there alternatives to traffic congestion in our future?

*      Can we create "Complete Streets," with room for cars, transit,
walking and cycling?

*      How can our streets facilitate an active lifestyle with
pedestrian and bicycle access to goods, services and community
facilities?

*      How can we define success and work for it?  How will we know if
we are doing a good job of meeting Santa Monica's transportation needs?

The City of Santa Monica Planning & Community Development Department will focus a citywide community workshop on these questions and we hope that you will join us and be part of the dialogue.  This workshop will integrate previous workshops with new ideas and explore in-depth transportation options and priorities to serve the community in the next 20 years.

DATE: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2007

TIME: 9:00 A.M. TO 2:00 PM

AT: JOHN ADAMS MIDDLE SCHOOL CAFETERIA, 2425 16TH STREET

Refreshments, lunch will be provided.

Scott,
thanks for posting this, I'm already planning to go.

At previous workshops I discussed the need for bicycle boulevards that were coordinated with neighboring cities. I was pleased to see several others also bring up bike/traffic/safety issues at those meetings... there is a lot of interest in bikes here in santa monica.  I encourage everyone to attend and participate, since BRW is in SM we have a direct interest in SM planning issues...
The last planning workshop I attended had free sandwiches etc. at lunch.

I highly recommend going to this.  I've been hearing about it for a month now from all sorts of different people.  If we show up en masse it could have an impact.

I'm going to go - hungover after SMCM.  Then off to a math conference, then working BRW 4-7, and home to go running . . . it'll be a tough day.
