I used to work at the Helen's Arcadia shop on Sundays and since the bike portion of the LA Triathlon route just happens to be pretty close to my normal route, I'd jump in with the riders near the beach and ride with them all the way downtown. I've never been stopped or even questioned and it's pretty fun to ride on closed streets.
I just make sure to peel off before the finish line.
I'm thinking about doing it again this Sunday. Anyone interested in joining me?
A point of interest. So many tri folks feel they've gotta have aero bars to make them faster. Last year I counted over 70 riders with aero bars on their bikes that weren't being used. ;-)
