Moar advices pleez!

Has anyone used MTB shorts with a chamois while road biking?  I was thinking that sometimes I might like to look like a normal person while riding but still be comfy.  I'm guessing the MTB shorts are not as snug, but if anyone has experience with good brands (or bad brands I guess), or suggestions on what to look for in MTB shorts, fire away.

The only mtn shorts I've seen that I biked are the Swobo ones (can someone please make first contact with them so we can get the ball rolling towards getting some of their stuffs for wholesale?) with their integrated removable liner.
All the other mtn bike shorts are all backwards-wearing-baseball-cap naff in my opinion.   The fit and graphics and shapes generally look pretty crappy and the liners seem to frequently be loose and an afterthought.

My suggestion would be to go with spandex cycling shorts.  Depending on the weather, lighter material is a good thing, but I have to say i dig the Smartwool cycling shorts.  They seem the least likely to get sticky when they get warm and sweaty in the liner and they are less prone to stinkies.  Pricey, yes.  Worth it?  So far, with my second favorite being my canari ones which have a lighter synthetic fabric.  Stay away from the Ibex merino one's they get sticky in the liner and that is not a good thing.

And, you can bring a simple wrap skirt to wear over them when you are off the bike and want to sightsee or have a night on the town in hayseed wherever you are...

I think the issue is that I would, sometimes, like to not be wearing body-hugging clothes and I was hoping to get baggier shorts that still have padding.  Perhaps short liners under regular clothes are the way to go.  Pearl Izumi makes some women's ones that have good reviews.

Just noticed Swobo makes liners.  And very cute knickers as well.  I feel a shopping spree coming on.

I'm a big fan of the really comfortable bike seat plus regular blue jeans/pants, but there are probably better options for longer rides.

Wheel World (and probably other shops as well) will let you try out a seat and return it for store credit until you find one that suits you.

If Wheel World (and other bike shops) make this process hassle-free, that's really good information to have. I'll let customers know, when they come in looking for replacement saddles.

regarding saddles, REI has the awesome return policy, which is pretty nice for testing out saddles, too.  I'm kind of interested in hearing about mntn bike pants though; jeans end up feeling pretty uncomfortable for rides >20miles.

I'm not sure if you're asking me or Wes but Imma answer anyway.  Terry Butterfly CrMo.  Would have preferred it to be named Terry Shark, or Terry T-Rex, but I guess women need a saddle named after delicate creatures.

Wait, didn't you get a pair of smartwool sleeves with BUTTERFLIES on them?

They have FLOWERS on them and I chose them because the options were plain black (best for ninja stealth lets-get-hit-by-a-car mode) or grey with flowers.

Butterflies are fierce and deadly if not provided the proper respect.

I got the respiro moderate men's saddle, and am quite satisfied.
