Unfortunately, I can't lead a ride to the opening reception because I'm out of town this weekend. Could be an interesting show. I went to school with Meg, one of the curators.

in  scott's absence, i would be happy to lead a ride down to the gallery if there is anyone interested besides myself. it is a really pleasant ride down there, and i'm having a hard time resisting the allure of the "Chico Bag Plastic Bag Monster".

anyone else interested? let me know, and we'll set up a time to meet at bikerowave to depart...

I'm an alumni at Otis, and received a calendar in the mail about this exhibit. I couldn't make it to the opening, I went on the first of two eco bus tours (sadly not a bicycle tour) of green homes and businesses on the West Side. It was really inspiring to see these places and meet the people behind them in person. I also attended the recent panel discussion on the concept of zero waste, which was a very engaging talk that made a lot of great points. If you're into environmental activism, or just interested in doing a little more for the world, I highly recommend the events. Also the gallery show is pretty cool, and will be open for a while longer. The highlight of the gallery for me was getting to see one of Calfee's bamboo bicycles in person.

Ok, so I went last thursday. There were talks by: a flack from Toyota who tried to 'artfuly' spin reality putting Toyota into a better light than they deserve despite their being the best of the worst (big car companys), and a guy called Reverend Gadget who is in business converting regular cars into all electric cars (http://leftcoastelectric.com/index.php). This was folowed by a question and answer period. Then we saw the exhibit...the bamboo bike is cool!
