Was just curious if there are sprague kickstand tools at the Bikerowave, and if anyone's used substitutes for the retaining pin (or know where one can be purchased)?   Seems to me that one might be able to use a screw of the approximate size, but any wisdom would be appreciated...

haven't seen this tool in the shop; would be an xlnt addition to the wall.

i have a Schwinn w/ a missing ks pin as well and would be curious to find out if a screw exists of similar size.

trying to outbid Rocco and paying $5 shipping is always an option:

Of course, it's always fun to buy another tool, but http://www.bunchobikes.com/repair2.htm shows how to get the job done in a couple of ways.  http://raleigh-chopper-net.tripod.com/Tech_Stuff.htm also shows the clamp method, and the Partk tool thing in action.

Seems silly to end up paying around $10 for a small pin, especially when you can buy an entire frame with the kickstand for $35 (http://cgi.ebay.com/22-INCH-SCHWINN-VARSITY-FRAME-WITH-KICKSTAND_W0QQitemZ230163590156).  Of course, then you'd have to build another bike. =)

I'll probably try the whole screw thing at some point if I can't get my hands on a retaining pin and report back.
