Sturmey Archer 3 speed on a Raleigh

Hi!
I'm new here and just discovered BIKEOWAVE by accident whilst strolling Mar Vista yesterday afternoon.
Please forgive me if this question has been asked and answered before.
I acquired at a yard sale a beautiful Black Raleigh Sports 3 speed bicycle with a City of LA Bike license sticker from the 60's! I've done a bit of restoration on her including replacing the Brooks saddle that was rotted out with a new one that actually cost more than what I spent on the bike.
Long story short-
The only problem that I can't solve is the rear hub is acting a bit funny. The cable tension adjustment does a bit to keep in in gear and there's oil in the hub but two things seem to occur:
1. The transmission slips from 1st to 2nd. Or is it 2nd to 3rd? Anyway, it seems to change by itself.
2. Sometimes it slips completely out of gear resulting in the pedals not engaging at all which you can imagine can be potentially quite painful.
I have never attempted to take the rear hub apart because I feel that it's really beyond my skill set. Any help at all would be appreciated up and including someone who actually knows what they are doing and has fixed these mechanisms which BTW I think are wonderful. I'm fairly local enough to be able to bring her into the shop if there is an expert in these matters.

Enzo is the expert in these; he's always in on Tuesdays.
The pedals not engaging is normal, but only when changing from one gear to another. Is the indicator chain bent or damaged at all? Is the shifter cable original?

The indicator chain appears normal. Yes, the shifter cable is original.
Thanks for the advice. I'll try to get there on Tuesday to look up this Enzo fellow.
Is it safe to assume that he is there from 6:30 pm-10:00 pm?

I'll be there on tuesday, while I can show you how to completely overhaul the hub, most likely you'll just need to adjust the cable.

I just want to say that BIKEROWAVE is great. Stopped by today and spoke to Enzo, the Raleigh guru and Eric. Great guys and really helpful.
I'm going to keep my eyes open for any useful bike parts especially a fork for a Raleigh Sports to give to BIKEROWAVE.
Cheers!
