CicLAvia opens LA streets to pedestrians and bicyclists, creating a temporary web of public space on which residents of Los Angeles can walk, bike, socialize, celebrate and learn more about their own city. On 10/10/10, 7.5 miles of roadways were temporarily opened for recreational purposes for the first ever CicLAvia event. CicLAvia 2011 events are scheduled for 4/10/11, 7/10/11, and 10/9/11. Visit ciclavia.org to learn more!
Spanning five industrial buildings across two city blocks, Atwater Crossing: Arts and Innovation Complex (ATX), houses an array of creative offices, artisanal manufacturing facilities, locations for photography and film shoots, a yoga studio and gym, and theaters showcasing cutting edge original productions. In early 2011, a new restaurant—the ATX Eatery—will warm the heart of the complex with a menu built around the highest quality ingredients, a true passion for freshly prepared food, and a state-of-the-art Italian wood burning pizza oven. Vegetables and herbs will be grown on an onsite linear farm with meals served in a marvelous 4,000 square foot patio and a permeable indoor dining room hosting an eclectic mix of live jazz and performances.
