We're doing it, 4 days of riding and camping starting Fri Nov 19th or Sat 20th. I need to know if you want to go, your pref for start date (I prefer leaving the 20th), your ideas on camp sites. Here's my plan, we ride the train up in early afternoon($29), find a place to crash in or near slo, the next morning head south, ride through morning then rest for a few hours around noon, then ride in the afternoon to campsite N of SB, the next day ride to sycamore cyn to camp, next day ride home. Some people may be able to meet us in SB along the way or even just roll up to meet us at syc cyn. We'll need to hoard bike boxes for the train, if we get 10 ppl we get a discounted fare. Also I'm gonna try to organize training rides. For now invites are for brwers +1, may expand as we get closer.

shane is suggesting splitting up the first day into 2 days, I know it's 100 mile but thought that split up between morning and evening stints it would be manageable to most everyone but he makes the valid point that we would be more likely to get more people if it was 2 days. So here is my altered plan:
friday afternoon train up to SLO, find a camp site there, maybe go ride around the are if we have time. Saturday ride from SLO to some point between SLO and SB
Sunday ride the rest of the way to SB
Monday ride from SB to Sycamore Cyn
Tuesday ride home.

We'll need people to chime in on campsite ideas and there preference. What parts will and won't work for you, etc.

I want to go!  But I volunteer at this place called Bikerowave on Sundays.  I think the only way it would work for me is to end up within ~100 miles of home by Saturday night so I could ride to Bikerowave by the time my shift starts.  So it would depend on how far north the "campsite N of SB" is.

Maybe you can meet us Rach, for part of the way.  As far as bike boxes are concerned I think I can finangle some of them out of the REI stock room if someone wants to come by with a truck during one of my shifts there.  Now, getting them to the train station day of, hmmmmm.....

I'd be totally down if we could leave Thursday. Other than that, I don't think i'd be able to make it.

I don't think I can afford to take the extra day off work leaving on thursday. I think we are go for SLO to SB in one full day though. which will shave a day off our trip. It would put us at syc cyn on sunday and the final stretch starting monday morning, you'd be able to get to class monday afternoon.
concerning boxes, I don't have the truck to pick them up and I was thinking we could try to talk someone into dropping the boxes off for us at the station, that way we could just ride in and then load up.

Let's start talking camp sites and route if people have experience with this

How would people feel about doing this a week earlier, leaving the 12th or the 13th?

Alright, can that idea.  CHOAM was not excited about me missing the weekend before Thanksgiving.

I'm in for half of it, then.  I'll probably do the SLO-SB century and then hop the train back home.

I cannot ride 100 miles in a day.  This isn't a matter of will power, but of like, physics or something.

Apart from that, I have no qualms.

I WANT TO GO THERE

I think you can but either way you can
A) go up early with some people and make the trip from slo to sb in 2 days
B) meet us in SB
C) see about local buses

We will be having a bikerotour meeting after the member meeting on the 7th. I'd like to get all of those who are 85% sure about going on some part of this to show up or chime in here. We need to talk train times, bike boxes, who's meeting us there, camp sites, and supplies.
