Under the poster's name, you should see:

You now have +1 karma.
It is a meaningless concept, so do not worry about being applauded or smitten.

this is like that old episode of the Simpsons where they all go to family therapy. They all get strapped in to electric chairs and each has a button to electrocute everyone else. They are supposed to learn to respect each other but it starts out slow and then they end up shocking the crap out of each other in the end. The shrink gives them a refund and tells them never to come back, then they go out and buy a TV.
My questions are twofold:
1. Are we trying to get the server to give us a refund?
2. Wheres my smite button?
