Sub $1,000 steel bike frame list

I've been toying with the idea of buying a new steel "roadish" frame lately and I'm kind of sick of devoting my life to craigslist and Ebay, so to that end I've been putting together a list of all the available production frames I could come up with that are less than a thousand dollars for frame and fork( not that I was thinking of spending near that much). I thought others might be interested as well and /or have suggestions or useful information about the frames in question, so here it is so far:

Have Allan Wanta out in Carlsbad build you a frame.  His custom frames start at $850, and you'd have a unique bike built to YOUR proportions.

There are also some local framebuilders (Zimmer, etc.), but I have no idea what they charge.

You can get some of the less well known builders to build you a frame in your price range to your specs.

I'd find that a lot more interesting than shelling out $$$ for another off the rack frame from one of the Taiwan megafactories (which is where most of them come from these days, despite the labels).
