On August 15th and 16th (saturday/sunday) the Manhattan Beach REI store is having their annual BIKE CORRAL  where we are the beneficiary!
REI invites customers and members to donate their bikes to REI who then receive some store credit in exchange.  And we get the bikes.  They did this last year with the Bike Kitchen and the Kitchen got 78 bikes.  We could expect--according to the rep at REI--at least 50 bikes.  That's a lot of bikes.  Just in time for the Burn.
We need:
-Volunteers to hang from 10-2pm on both days, repping the BRW.
-Vehicles (Pick-up trucks) to move the bikes--REI can't store them.
-Of course, new flyers, business cards, and more special thingies: tshirts.

Oh and, so important: Kwang deserves a tip of the helmet for helping make this happen for us!  Awesome!

I should be able to support this event.  It is close to where I live.

The store's address is Manhattan Beach if your are looking for it.

We have to organize this as we do not want too many members hanging out in front of the store. Couple of members would suffice with a table and if there are more willing members, then we can rotate every couple of hours. We will need additional volunteers with cars to move those bikes. REI has no interest in storing it. We have to move it right then and there. We need business cards and flyers.

I will stay on call, as I am carless, but I live pretty close by if we need someone there consistently.

Hey, so in two days, we will be at REI from 10-2 manning a booth of sorts introducing Manhattan Beach/South Bay to the Bikerowave.  And our reward will be the stacks of bikes we get to take home with us.
We still need a vehicle commitment.  There are a number of members with pick-up trucks that I know of:
Ryan A
Paul B
Gern T
Max L (your truck is pretty well spoken for however!)
REI has made it very clear that they want the bikes out each day.  Imagine about 25 to 40 bikes each day.  I'd think a pair of pick up trucks and say my wagon with the roof rack would do.  The pick-ups would only have to make a run to pick up and drop off the bikes.  Those volunteers wouldn't need to stay the whole 4 hours.  Just a run in at 2 each day.

Volunteers for the booth duties:
And which days?
Steve Mattson (sat and sun)
Eric C (sun)
Lucas  (?)
Max (?)
Cole (?)
Deborah (?)
We shouldn't need more than 3 people there each day.  We could do some shifts too.  2 is recommended.
We should bring some business cards, maybe set up an easel, our banner, t-shirts, donation jar (for those not giving us their vintage Colnagos), a boom box for some music maybe, a computer for the streaming video of the BRW in action up on Venice to get the locals all excited about...

I will be there Saturday. I think 3 members at table per day and others making a delivery run as bikes pile up should be sufficient. If everyone in the Steve's list shows up, we will have enough. Jordan is showing up with his SUV around noon, I think Saturday.

We have business cards. Do we need flyers or some other promo materials?

I can be there both days,

My dad's truck can't haul that many bikes, but i could pull a rental trailer if need be.

So we have:
Steve Mattson both days.
ERock Sunday
Kwang Saturday
Lucas both days
Max both days.

Correct?

Vehicles we have:
Ryan for Sunday
Thomas and his ten bike capacity van both days
My wagon and it's 4 bike capacity, maybe 5.
We need more vehicles...
This is potentially one trip to fill up a pick-up or cube van with bikes and that would be needed both days just before 2pm.
