Hi,

If someone could help me get a fix on this problem, that would be great. My first tube (forte- 700X23) just exploded as i was taking the bike down the stairs. when i checked a portion of the tube had come off the tire...I had another tube lying around at home (continental-700X23) which i put in...after installng the tire, I got the feeling that the tibe was losing air. Taking the tube off confirmed this and i patched the hole. I put the tube on again, and pumped it up to 105 psi...after i stopped i noticed that the tube was coming out of the rim and then it suddenly just exploded..this is pretty much what happened with the first tube too..Was this a pinch flat? It's surprising because I've changed quite a few tubes before and I've never had this problem before..thanks for your help!

Could be a pinch flat, could be that your rim tape needs to be replaced, could be that you got a couple of the crappy tubes that were in the big batch of crappy tubes that was produced a few months ago, could be that you've got a hole in your tire that you haven't noticed and the tube pushed through and then popped.

When you replace the tube again, run your finger around the inside of the tire to check for anything that might cause a tire to pop, and look for holes in the sidewall.  Then check the rim for anything jagged, and make sure the rim tape is still in place.  Assuming the rim and tire are OK, put the tube back in and make sure not to pinch it.

You should be ok, unless of course your next new tube is part of the bad batch.

Good Luck!

I'm going to assume you have something stuck in your tire. What side was the hole on the tube? (both tubes)
