I was contacted my SMC's Center for Environmental And Urban Studies department and they are celebrating next month's Earth Day and they want us to participate!  Would there be any SMC student and/or Bikerowave-members interested in representing the BRW at this event?
Here's some more about it:

"... this upcoming spring semester EcoAction plans to hold its third annual Earth Week Celebration. The week will center around the idea of climate change with an emphasis on finding local solutions to the global problem. Events will be held at Santa Monica College throughout the week of April 22nd and will include a screening of the newest EnviroDoc “FUEL”, a campus clean up project, and EcoAction’s “EcoPalooza Earth Day Celebration” on Tuesday, April 21st. Our “EcoPalooza” celebration will revolve around educating students on how they can lower their own carbon footprint by introducing them to consumer alternatives, from cars to bikes, to food and waste, that emphasize a “green” lifestyle."

They'd like us to table at this event, maybe we could set up a booth and do some repairs or oversee a bike valet service?  They are also looking for donations for their raffle--I thought, maybe one of those 10 hour gift cards I was conjuring up a while ago that hasn't got off the ground yet or some other kind of gift card from us?

I think we should be there for this event.

Jaz was there and I showed up to help out.  It was brief, maybe two hours, drew a big crowd of students and we had the chance to spread the word to a bunch of folks.  Beautiful day, free pizza and mini-cliff bars, a bunch of electrobikes and more.
I had a chance to talk with a couple of representatives of the Associated Students more about what they would want to see us provide and what we could provide--SMC's Associated Students has funding to assist businesses who provide services to students who are AS members.  This seems to be in the category of "has to happen."  There's no reason why we shouldn't have a close relationship with SMC.  It sounds a little long term, the on-campus micro-bikero, but for now they are going to put together a proposal for us and I've invited them to our May 3rd Member meeting.  It would be easy outreach for us and talk about providing a service to the community...
