The Surly JTule is a bit pricey for a 15mm wrench and a bottle opener.
+1

Given that someone(s) already ripped off all of our plain old regular 15mm wrenches, I would further add that purchasing expensive 15mm wrench / bottle opener combo wrenches is probably only going to encourage additional thefts and further cement the impression that we are "expensive for a co-op".

We may as well just give them away.

I think the "Trixie", if we ordered them, would be added to our stock of 15mm wrenches for SALE, not for use in the shop.

Yes. The intention of my original post was for BRW to bring them in for sale. Maybe when people buy the hipster Trixie, 15mm shop wrenches will tend to stay around the shop longer.

I'm with Larry on this one...
We can think of a number of items people want to buy much higher up the list than the Jethro Tule/Pedro's tool.
Like new cheap 700c tires (that we sell for $20 or less)...
Like lights from THE...
Like brass bells from VO Imports...
It helps, a lot, to know who's coming in our shop, and being a member on a shift helps--sorry.  They aren't going to buy a jethro tule/Pedro's trixie.

And, if we are losing all these 15mm wrenches, why not start engraving them with "BRW"  Art can do them, he has good penmanship.

That's been done, and we have them for sale now too.

I don't think we need to prioritize inventory, especially as people seem internally conflicted about certain items.

"Scott, what's the wholesale price on these? [the Pedro's Trixie] We should be selling them--they look perfect!  As my friend LS says, "I want one!""

Then

WTF?

We should buy more standard inventory and a couple of each of the cool things and then see what sells, rather than bickering.  I think we could move a couple of Trixies to the fixie folk, the brass bells to the old-schoolers, lights to everybody, etc., etc.

The more cool stuff we have to sell, the more people can buy, the more people can use the Bikerowave to meet their biking needs, the more money we make and people that visit, the better our customer base / cash cushion is for new endeavors etc., etc.

We really need to assign authority to teams that can actually get stuff done and put new processes in place so that inventory gets on the shelves promptly and other things get done efficiently, rather than having people going their own ways and posting random comments on the forum and creating needless chaos.

i'm all for chaos.  the biosphere runs on it.  the human project that has attempted to control chaos has pretty much failed.  just ask any of the species involved in the sixth mega-extinction.  and how about those glaciers?  watch for cool feedback mechanisms like methane escaping from thawing "permafrost."  maybe we can fix it with a jethro tool.  just a thought.

Sorry about that Scott -- I got my threads crossed.  I don't think that it would hurt for us to purchase two of them for sale as long as they're in the display case.
