So I know little to nothing about my bike and I hadn't made it into the Bikerowave for some tutoring yet. I was putting air into my tire that has a presta valve and ran into a problem. Now I don't know exactly what the pieces of the valve are called so I'll have to describe them to try and get my question out.

So starting from the bottom, we have the main housing/valve part. Then there is a bigger threaded nut that you tighten against the rim. After that there is a smaller tube sticking out of the top of the main housing and then a smaller nut that goes on this and controls if the air can flow. This sound about right?

So my problem is I accidentally removed the small nut on the end all the way, and then while trying to put it back on, forced the small tube into the main valve. So now I can't seem to find/retrieve the little smaller tube and my tire lost it's air with me fiddling with it.

Long story short...is this something I can bring over to the Bikerowave and get help sorting out.

get a new tube, it's $5 and will save you the hassle of having to deal with "fixing" the valve.  If you loose/destroy/snap the valve for presta tubes is usually impossible to fix.

So I guess I'll be by this evening to learn how to put the new tube in (I believe I had bought a spare). If I don't have one...are they available at the Bikerowave?

Thanks,

Yup, BRW has tubes. You should get an tube extra anyways. That way you can fix flats on the road. Make sure someone teaches you ho to change it sufficiently that you can do it yourself. Also pick up some tire levers if you don't already have them (also available at BRW for a couple bucks).

I tried to respond to AT's question in the private section and accidentally deleted his post in the process.

at 2:49 he said:

"BTW - Performance is charging like $4 for it's tubes now, so does that mean BRW can lower it's prices?"

Ooops.

It's back again.  Alex's initial post, that is about Performance tube prices.
