some of the monday night folks were talking about doing a ride this sunday morning, probably around 10am or so, here's a link:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=11380723999305507511,34.014070,-118.498070&saddr=1816+Berkeley+St,+Santa+Monica,+California+90404&daddr=berkeley+st.+and+broadway,+santa+monica+ca+to:Santa+Monica+Blvd+%4034.014070,+-118.498070+to:california+incline+%26+ocean+ave.+santa+monica+to:california+incline+%26+pacific+coast+highway,+santa+monica+to:topanga+canyon+rd.+%26+pacific+coast+highway+to:topanga+canyon+rd.+%26+old+topanga+canyon+rd.,+topanga,+ca+to:Mulholland+Hwy+%26+Old+Topanga+Canyon+Rd,+Calabasas,+Los+Angeles,+California+91302,+United+States+to:mulholland+hwy+%26+las+virgenes+rd+to:malibu+canyon+rd.+%26+pacific+coast+highway+to:Pacific+Coast+Hwy+%26+California+Incline,+Santa+Monica,+CA+90403+to:Ocean+Ave+%26+California+Incline,+Santa+Monica,+CA+90403+to:ocean+ave+%26+santa+monica+ave+to:santa+monica+ave+%26+berkeley+st+to:1816+Berkeley+St,+Santa+Monica,+CA+90404&mra=pi&mrcr=13&sll=34.07623,-118.58722&sspn=0.2511,0.396194&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=12

i don't know if it's actually gonna happen, but if anyone is down, let's do it.

I've always wanted to try a ride like this but I think I'd probably die. Maybe I should just climb as far as I can and then turn around...I'd probably slow y'all down though.

I'd be totally down for having a weekly BRW ride that's fast-ish but maybe not quite so intense. But also still fitness oriented. I know we don't sponsor rides, but stores sponsor these sorts of rides. Perhaps we could, too?

Thoughts?

FYI-

They've been repaving PCH from the SM Pier to Cross Creek Road for the past month. They haven't finished yet so it's still torn up between the SM Pier and Sunset (as of the commute home tonight). It's ridable but not much fun, especially hard on my tootpick wrists. Not only is it rutted, but there's plenty of loose stuff. Be careful.

North of Sunset it's smooth fresh pavement.

i totally think we should start doing this. if its on the weekend then i'll probably do it every week. i don't really think there's much of a need to assume we'd be pushing a super-fast tempo anyways, i'm more focused on fun than fitness. besides, after doing one long ride you are good to do more. shall we get some brw jerseys made up?

Oh my. Bikerowave spandex. MUST HAVE!

I'll come out on this ride and give it my best shot (next weekend, right?). I really need to work on climbing so I probably won't make it very far, but it's still a step closer to being able to complete a ride like that.

I, too, would probably come every week. I need people to ride with that'll make me push myself more.

I bike where this is going. if you're worried about the climbing, you could always change up your gearing, but i don't think the climbing will be too unbearable, the key is really just keeping a good pace, starting slow and keeping yourself going longer. I'd say if you can get to about a 39x23-26 you'd be fine.

wowowowo..

sign me up!  I might even bear the headwinds and ride up from torrance to make it a 60-80mile day.... 10am would probably work, so long as c-mob doesn't keep me out too late...

Yeah right dude - you're gonna be sleeping in the bushes outside the Playboy mansion if CRANK MOB has it's way.

I'd like to ride--and that sort of distance and climbing would kick my ass.
Jersey's yes.  Merino wool, something classic, with some version of the website font, not the t-shirt font.  Merino shorts too.  No more spandex.
